Scott Shirey, CPA
I am a Certified Public Accountant since 2007, specializing in bookkeeping, fractional controller and CFO services, payroll and HR compliance, and financial planning for small & mid-sized businesses and their owners.
.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas-San Antonio and began my accounting and finance career in the Colorado high country at Loveland Ski Area where I gained invaluable experience directing the accounting, finance, payroll, HR, and I/T functions for this seasonal business that turns over 600 employees every year. Working with stakeholders throughout all corners of the organization, I developed a reputation of excellent customer service, a dedication that drives my mission to all clients today.

I have extensive non-profit experience from my time as Director of Finance and Administration at the Keystone Science School. I have over ten years of experience preparing 990 tax returns for a variety of non-profit clients.

Shirey CPA was conceived organically over the years as I began helping friends with their businesses, preparing tax returns and providing tax and retirement planning. Word of mouth grew, and I began to receive more inquiries than I could handle as a side business, thus launching Shirey CPA as a full-time pursuit in 2022. Spring of 2024, we relocated our family to North Idaho. I'm seeking new clients, and I aim to provide valuable and trusted services to the community and look forward to making some friends along the way.

I have vast experience with a wide variety of accounting, payroll, HRIS, CRM software, and mapping of POS systems to the GL - Quickbooks Enterprise and Online, Sage Intacct and SIP budgeting, Netsuite, Salesforce, ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, Peoplesoft, Wolfepak for the Oil and Gas Industry, Square, and exposure to many others.

I provide personalized and respond quickly. Call, text, or email and let's discuss how I can help you and your business to grow and succeed.

About
Talai Shirey - Bookkeeper and Office Manager
Talai is a bookkeeper, AP accountant, and payroll processor for Shirey CPA. Having worked for a Fortune 500 Company as well as local government and non-profits, she is experienced in labor laws, benefit coordination, and bookkeeping. Personal Attention
Scott a solo CPA that provides big service. I partner with a limited number of clients to be sure that everyone will receive the attention they need.

I offer many ways to collaborate - at your location anywhere in North Idaho, my home office in Athol, and of course remotely by Zoom or another medium when it makes sense.

I do not promote tax preparation because I am not a tax firm dependent on hammering out a thousand returns each year. Yet I understand that tax planning can be a huge element to any business and its owners, and I make sure to stay on top of the issues and legal developments and to know my client's unique tax circumstances intimately.
WHY CHOOSE SHIREY CPA
Strategic Financial Management
My extensive experience leading successful businesses gives me an edge in understanding your unique challenges that may go beyond the financial numbers.

Maybe it's a human resources or I/T bottleneck that is exacerbating what may seem like an accounting problem. I have the experience to identify these problems and to explain the pros and cons of any potential solution so you can make an informed decision.
Fast & Efficient Bookkeeping
First and foremost, my core competency is managing the accounting close process to provide valuable financial information and analysis, dependably and on-time so it's there when you need it.

I have been closing ledgers and tying out subledgers for a wide variety of businesses and non-profits every month for almost two decades and I can handle all tasks from routine journal entries to advanced revenue recognition & expense allocation and accrual schedules.

Some small businesses may only need a bank reconciliation and help with AP and payroll while others may be complex with a checklist a mile long. I can manage either effectively to make sure you have the information when you need it.
